Book Reviews
Book Reveiws related to Infant Massage
Baby's First Skills; Help Your Baby
Learn Through
Creative Play by Miriam
Stoppard, M.D. Dr. Stoppard
presents a lively host of
activities and information on
developmental milestones in this
colorful book. A parent-friendly
format designed for quick scanning
and application makes this a fun
resource for CEIMs as well. The
book outlines a "Golden Hour" of
play for each month of a baby's
first year, along with key
developmental changes. CEIMs will
find this book especially useful
when working with families of older
infants who often get restless
during infant massage. There are
many "activities" in the book that
could be worked into an infant
massage routine to keep the baby
happily engaged. The activities
also make for fun additions to
infant massage classes. Dr.
Stoppard is a convincing advocate
for the significance of this type of
interaction on babies healthy
development. The suggested play
activities are all geared to build
skills in accord with an infant's
needs and emerging skills. CEIMs
will enjoy a like-minded read in
this charming book. |
