Emmy has over 20 years of experience in education, including roles as a teacher, administrator, nonprofit executive director, and state government strategist. As an entrepreneurial founder, her work spans grassroots organizations to statewide policies and programs. Emmy’s early childhood career began when she opened the first new early learning center in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina destroyed 80% of local programs. She has served on numerous local and national early childhood workgroups and steering committees. Emmy’s community impact earned her a commendation from the mayor of New Orleans and national recognition as a 2014 W.K. Kellogg Foundation Community Leadership Network fellow. This three-year fellowship, focused on racial equity and healing, laid the foundation for her leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
